VBAZ: Configure backup copy job to Cloud Connect
Backup copies use data stored in Veeam backup files to create new backups in an off-site location. In our case, this location is the Cloud Connect server of your Service Provider.
Add the Azure repository that we have previously created in the Azure appliance as an External repository so that VBR can read up the backed up data to send backup copies into the service provider's cloud.
In VBR, go to Backup Infrastructure > External Repositories.
Click Connect to Repository
In the wizard, specify a name for the Azure repository.
Add the credentials of the storage account of the repository in Azure.
You can find these credentials in Azure, so go to Storage accounts, find the storage account that you created previously as the Azure repository. You can get the key by typing "key" in the search field and choosing Access keys.
Here you can copy both the account name and the key.
Choose the container and the folder. You can choose only ONE folder. If you have created multiple tiers in the repository creation process (hot, cold and archive) in the Azure appliance and you need backup copies from these folders too, you need to add ALL folders using the New External Repository wizard.
Enable encryption.
The wizard will scan the storage account for backups.
Finish the wizard.
Now you can create the Backup copy job.
In the VBR console, on the Home tab, choose Backup Copy.
Give the job a Name and choose your preferred copy mode.
Immediate copy will perform a backup copy on all backups. Periodic copy will only process and copy the most recent backup file.
On the Objects tab, click Add... > From backups...
Choose the Azure backup job.
On the Target tab, choose the cloud repository from the list.
Choose which time can the copy run. Scheduling this needs to be carefully considered. If you configure a backup window too tight (e.g. because the bandwidth between the VBR server and the SP cloud infrastructure is too low and the data amount is too big), the copy job will not be able to finish within the specified time. You can also specify network throttling, if network usage is a concern.
Finish the wizard.
Run the copy for the first time.
