Configure automatic configuration backups

The Veeam server doesn't have a backup like all other servers in your infrastructure. The recommended method to preserve the backup server is to backup its configuration.

Go to Options > Configuration Backup

Enable configuration backup and choose the repository.

Info: If you have not configured your repository yet, the default repository works just fine. As soon as you configure a new repository (e.g. on a NAS device), Veeam will automatically ask whether you want to move the configuration backup to the new repository. (In this case, just click yes.)

Enable configuration backup file encryption.

Be careful! This password will be needed if you ever need to restore your configuration. Do not lose it, because Veeam support cannot recover it.

Manual backup before patching or upgrading

Before you begin any update or patching procedures on VBR, it’s practical to backup your current configuration. Go to Options > Configuration Backup

Click on Backup now to create the config backup. The dialog box will notify you when the backup is finished.
